Metamizole has strongly expressed analgesic and antipyretic effects and moderate anti-inflammatory effect. Metamizole exerts antispasmodic effect on the smooth muscles of the uterus, gall-bladder, biliary and urinary tract. Compared with the narcotic analgesics, metamizole does not suppress the respiratory center. Taken even in high doses, it has no influence on the peristaltic activity and does not cause obstipation.
